80's friendship pins

I quite like the kids to make something to give out to new wee friends at school around Valentines day. This project cost us $2 for a pack of beads as we had the pins already. I remember making these as a kid ( yay for the 80's). We wore them on our sneakers like this...so choice. They also have K bars- remember those?

plum jam 2015

We collected fruit in the weekend so we made plum jam today. I used the same recipe as last year but I was determined to get it to set better this time. I left the pips in and spent aaaaaages with a slotted spoon and sieve getting them out. I was hoping that doing this would also help pass the time needed for the jam to set, but I'm not really sure it worked. I had a few disasters too, a jar was too hot and cracked when I poured the jam in ( it seems we have a very hot oven) and I got a bit of jam on the floor and I swear after 10 minutes mopping there's still sticky bits!

I plan to add a wee note to some for the kid's to give to the kid's teachers when we start back this year, give some to our neighbour and any visitors we have these holidays, we are big peanut butter and marmite fans so still have some 2014 jam, which has ) upon inspection)  set beautifully and was a bit runny like 2015's batch when just made- so there's hope!

Mum will be impressed- I even wore a pinny!

I didn't have enough jars so this is our jar for the fridge
all ready to give away :)

cardboard kitten toys

I like these

I wanted to buy some, but as the link to buy them didn't work- I tired making some myself. They're not as easy as you might think! I cut a range of circles to size, threaded them on a ribbon, knotted the ribbon at the nose and tail ends and drew a face

cat play houses

These wee friends come to live with us in a few weeks time...

This morning T wanted to make his friend a house to play and sleep in. Dad was at Bunnings so he picked up a box for us to cover. We used a glue gun and attached pieces of felt and polar fleece. It's lined with an old piece of sheepskin. T thought it needed a chimney and windows. It's bright and cosy and he's very excited about it being used.

M saw this house on www.aliexpress.com and had to have it. I let her as it was about $8 including postage, it suspect will come after we get the kittens but they also have a little soft bed each ( the yellow polka dot in the right of the top photo) that we bought from ali for $6 each.
